Super horses, great members, and a fantastic team.
Simply the best riding in London.
From our stables at the heart of Richmond Park, we offer the most
incredible riding in London and the South East. Our membership is a great way to ride regularly and affordably. Actively promoting the human-horse relationship, our scheme is the closest to having your own horse.
Come and find out why our members describe us as a “fantastic stables
and atmosphere”, “a community and a fun place to have a weekly ride on
great quality horses”, and recommend “the staff, wonderful Richmond Park, and of course the horses!” (Facebook reviews).

FAQs
How do I become a member?
Please complete/submit the Application Form. We will then contact you to find a suitable time and date for your trial, when we can discuss your riding requirements.

What level of experience do I need to become a member?
Members need to be over 12 years of age, able to ride independently in all three paces and have experience of hacking out in groups.

What if I’d like to join but I haven’t ridden in a long time?
Then you are still very welcome! You will need to have previously been able to walk, trot and canter and have ridden out in groups – but if you are a little rusty we can help you get back in the saddle!

What equipment do I need?
You will need to have your own hat that complies with the latest BHS safety standards (See details on BHS hat safety standards 2016). Members will only be allowed to ride if their hat bears one of the following kite marks:
-
PAS 015 (1998 or 2011)
-
VG1 01.040 (2014-12)
-
ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a onwards)
-
SNELL E2001
-
AS/NZS 3838 (2006 onwards)
You will also need riding boots with a flat sole and small heel. Body protectors are not compulsory but should you choose to wear one please ensure that it has been professionally fitted. All sharers will be required to take out horse and rider insurance. All details of how to obtain this will be provided in the riding contract.

Do I have to ride every week or can I ride on an ad hoc basis?
Our memberships are for those who wish to ride on a regular basis. Our stables are located in a private area of Richmond Park where access is restricted, so regrettably we will not be able to accommodate riders only wanting to ride on an occasional basis. The minimum riding commitment is once per week, although we are flexible with holidays etc.
Will I have the same horse each week?
Operation Centaur is all about developing relationships between people and horses. We will endeavour to keep you with the same horse every time you ride. Because our horses’ welfare is our highest priority we believe that they need an occasional holiday – just like us! On the odd occasion your horse is off for some R+R we will offer you a suitable replacement.
Are lessons available?
We have BHS qualified instructors who provide lessons on request in our outdoor arena. We also offer instructional hacks. Contact us for more information and costs.
What are the costs?
Membership starts from £220 per month, just over £50 a week for a 75 minute weekly hack. A mandatory £60 annual fee is levied that covers all administration and includes a contribution to the maintenance of Richmond Park Horse Tracks.

What if I want to cancel my membership?
The membership/joining fee is paid annually and is non-refundable. You can cancel your membership anytime by providing us with one months’ notice in writing.

Can I change my regular riding slot?
When you become a member you will choose a regular riding slot. If there are the odd occasions where you would like to swap your slot for another we will do our best to accommodate your request. We may not be able to guarantee your regular horse, however.

Can I come and have a look around?
We’d love to have you ride with us! Please fill in the form and we will be in touch soonest to invite you for a tour and a trial.
